Environmental Impact Assessment

Volkswind are required under the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment, England and Wales) Regulations 1999 to carry out an Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed wind farm. The development is classified as a schedule 2 project which is an ‘Energy Industry' - Installations for the harnessing of wind power for energy production (wind farms).

'Environmental impact assessment is a process by which information about the environmental effects of a project is collected, both by the developer and from other sources, and taken into account by the planning authority in forming its judgement on whether the development should go ahead.'

In line with the request of the local planning authority, the scope of the assessment will consider the following aspects:

  •         Wind resource
  •         Grid connection
  •         Landscape and visual impact assessment
  •         Planning policy
  •         Alternative sites
  •         Transport
  •         Noise
  •         Archaeology
  •         Ecology
  •         Hydrology
  •         Shadow Flicker
  •         Telecommunications
  •         Liaison with Civil Aviation Authority and Defence Estates
