A planning application for Watford Lodge wind farm was submitted to Daventry District Council, the Local Planning Authority, in August 2009. The application had been formally registered as application number DA/2009/0620. To view the application documents, including detailed technical and environmental information about the scheme, please click here and select Media Items.

The application was refused at a Committee meeting in April 2011 despite the planning officer's recommendation for approval. Volkswind UK Ltd appealed to the Secretary of State against the refusal and the appeal was heard at a Public Inquiry in October/November 2011 at Daventry District Council offices. The Planning Appeal reference is APP/Y2810/A/11/2153242/NWF.

On 21st December 2011 a decision was released allowing the appeal and granting planning permission for construction of 5 wind turbines, access track, transformer units, control building/substation, underground cabling, meteorological mast and crane hard standing areas on land adjacent to Waford Lodge Farm, West Haddon Rd, Watford.
